Yahoo! Web Analytics: Tracking, Reporting, and Analyzing for Data-Driven Insights

The idea is the most important ingredient in starting a small business on the internet. After the idea is initialized we have to materialize the idea into a tangible online vehicle that can drive conversions, generate leads or simply supply information.

Now comes measuring the idea –

I have read “Web Analytics an Hour a Day, Google Analytics” and other books that tell me how I can optimize my website, but I do not receive any direct guidance on what are the important measuring points on a site. Half the times I do not even know what to measure.

When I first saw a friend of mine running Yahoo Web Analytics on there website, I had no idea how powerful knowing your numbers can be. Now I am a Yahoo Web Analytics customer and I am able to experiment with different display ads and content along with tracking how the visitor came to my site , what is the visitor looking for , when did the visitor initiate a visit and what page turned the visitor into existing.

Yahoo Web Analytics also allows me to track other variables and action points within my website that are not standard, I can even create a custom report, if you read the book you will know what I mean. I take pride in knowing my numbers and this is business intelligence! No more speculation on how well my website is doing, I am in control with Yahoo Web Analytics. In this article I’m going to tell you the ABSOLUTE KEY to Google search engine optimization. First I will start with the obvious to make sure you’re doing the basics. What you probably know is that there is “on-page” and “off-page” SEO.

Quickly, here are the basics to “on-page SEO”:

1) Keyword in title

2) Keyword in description

3) Keyword in URL

4) Keyword used on page at least 3% of word density

5) Inner pages of other sites link to that page with the same keyword

6) Keyword in meta keyword tag (this probably doesn’t matter)

7) Some LSI keyword usage (also probably does not matter)

OK, you did that. That gets you “into the game” of Google search engine optimization and shows big G what keyword you want to rank that page for. Now you have to do off-page SEO so Google knows what your “internet reputation” is.

Quickly, here are the “basics” (which most people probably do not know) to “off-page SEO”:

1) Quality backlinks: PR4 domains and higher

2) Huge QUANTITY of backlinks

3) Keyword NOT varied in anchor text

4) Link security for your backlinks: your links are not leaving the pages they were placed on

5) Links pointed to INNER PAGE of your website, not home page: It looks more natural and yields better, faster rankings.

6) IP diversity: Google does not give nearly as much weight to links on the same IP address

7) Location diversity: Often overlooked – Google gives a huge boost to websites who have links coming from multiple countries

.edu and .gov link diversity: These links are stronger and you need them. Don’t neglect.com though

There may be one or two things I am leaving out, but if you do the above things, you are already well ahead of 99% of the Google search engine optimization “experts” out there who are worried about silly things like “relevancy” and not getting “sandboxed.”
